This weekend I made zweibach for the first time. Sure, I had helped my mom and grandma make them numerous times, but this time I was on my own. I took them to church for the Easter breakfast. The president of the college came and asked if I had made them. He and Karen had surmised that it could only be Paul Dyck or myself. I hadn't realized there were quite so few of us Russian Mennonites around. I think I saw Jim walk off with the basket that contained the paska.

Yay for you, Jan! Those zweibacks look beautiful. Even though Allen Co. is one of the places I can find distant relatives, I now feel most at home around that beautiful bread with the belly button on top. I can just imagine your zweiback at the potluck.
ah yes, like being a swiss mennonite in newton!
